Policy for approved "Leave"
Residents are divided into three pools. No more than one resident from the same pool will be granted leave on the same day, except for valid reasons.
Leave requests must be submitted only through the designated. Google Form available in the ED Doctors Corner on the DIMS Academy page. Leave requests should be submitted on or before the 20th of every month.
All leave requests will be processed in a timely and organized manner. Approved leaves will be reflected publicly in the Google Sheet available in the ED Doctors Corner on the DIMS Academy page.
Dr. Saleema is the coordinator for the leave policy. Approval of leave requests by her will be updated in the Google Sheet after the 21st of every month.
Emergency leave requires approval from the concerned EP as well as Dr. Saleema.
Leave will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, considering departmental requirements and fairness, and only after ensuring the minimum staffing requirements are met. The minimum resident strength for each working day shall be:
• Morning: 2
• Morning Peak: 1
• Evening Peak: 1
• Night: 3
Residents are expected to check the leave sheet and adjust their plans accordingly before applying.
7. A maximum of 21 leave days per year and 3 leave days per month are permitted. Any leave exceeding these limits requires additional approval from the HOD.
8. For MEM residents, any leave extending beyond 5 days must be intimated to rriem.admin@mfa.gwu.edu.
9. Duty Exchange Policy:
• A maximum of 2 duty exchanges per month is permitted.
• Duty exchanges are allowed only within the same pool.
• Every exchange requires approval from all concerned EPs and Dr. Fathima.
• Every approved duty exchange must be announced publicly in the ED Doctors group.
10. Dr. Fathima holds the final authority to publish the duty roster after considering all the above policies. The monthly duty roster will be published before the 28th of every month on the DIMS Academy page. All residents are expected to comply with the final roster. Any changes beyond this policy will be made only with the explicit decision of the EPs, HOD, and Dr Fathima, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with priority given to departmental needs.
