Programme Overview
Course Duration
The Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) Programme is conducted over a two-year structured training period. The programme includes continuous internal assessment throughout the course and a final exit examination at the end of the academic phase
First Year: Academic training consisting of modules, hospital-based clinical exposure, and internal assessments.
Second Year: Internship training in the hospital setting.

BSc Nursing qualification (mandatory)
Valid nursing registration
Selection based on written test and interview
Training Structure
The academic component consists of 12 module examinations, conducted periodically during the course. Continuous assessment is performed through:
12 Module examinations
Quarterly OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) + Simulation
Logbook evaluation
Quality Improvement Project (QIP)
Attendance assessment
Faculty internal evaluation
Internal assessment does not include the final exit theory or practical examination. Students must maintain a structured logbook documenting clinical exposure and procedures. The logbook must be submitted before the final exit theory examination. Industrial visits are optional components of the programme. Participation is encouraged but not mandatory for certification.
Attendance Policy
Students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance in academic sessions. Students failing to meet this requirement will not be eligible to appear for the final exit examination or receive the course certificate.
Internal Assessment
Continuous evaluation is conducted throughout the programme, including 12 module examinations, logbook evaluation, online activities, QIP projects, attendance assessment, and internal assessments.
Students must obtain a minimum of 60% in the internal assessment to be eligible for the final exit examination.

Eligibility for Final Exam:
Minimum 80% attendance

Submission of the completed logbook
Final Exit Examination Structure
Conducted at the end of 1 year of academic training
Theory Examination: 200 marks
Practical Examination: 200 marks.
OSCE
Simulation-based assessment
Passing Criteria
Theory: ≥ 50%
Practical (OSCE + Simulation): ≥ 60%
All components must be passed separately
Final Score Calculation
Internal Assessment: 800 marks (2/3 weightage)
Final Exit Examination: 400 marks (1/3 weightage)
Theory: 200
Practical: 200
Total Maximum Marks: 1200
Certification Requirements:
Certification will be awarded only if all conditions are fulfilled:
Minimum 80% attendance
Minimum 60% internal assessment
Passed Theory and Practical examinations
Completed 1-year internship
Submitted complete logbook
Failure to meet any one of the above → Not eligible for certification
Evaluation is continuous, with primary weightage on internal performance rather than a single final examination.
Discipline & Conduct
EMT students undergo training within hospital environments and must adhere to all institutional policies and professional standards of the respective training hospitals.
Students must:
Follow hospital administrative policies and protocols
Comply with NABH standards and patient safety guidelines
Maintain infection control practices and professional conduct
Respect patient confidentiality and ethical standards
Students may be required to participate in institutional activities such as:
Medical camps
Emergency medical support services
Public health or community outreach programmes
Hospital academic activities
Pre-hospital care
Participation in these activities forms part of the professional training environment of the EMT programme. Failure to comply with institutional policies or refusal to participate in assigned academic or hospital duties may result in disciplinary review and action by the programme authority
Mandatory Certifications
All students must complete the following within three months of course commencement:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Failure to complete these certifications within the stipulated time may affect programme eligibility.
Academic Bank of Credits
Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) is the initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Education (MoE). As per National Education Policy 2020, the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) has been envisaged to facilitate the academic mobility of students with the freedom to study across the Higher Education Institutions in the country with an appropriate “credit transfer” mechanism from one programme to another, leading to attain a Degree/ Diploma/PG-diploma, etc., Considering the significance of this digital initiative, all students must generate ABC IDs. All students are advised to visit www.abc.gov.in or www.digilocker.gov.in to generate an ABC ID.

The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) is a digital platform that lets students transfer, accumulate, and redeem credits across different higher education institutions.
Students register for an ABC ID to track and manage their credits.
This ABC ID will be mentioned in your Marksheet.
Credits can be transferred as needed.
A unique 12-digit ID, Aadhar number, and linked mobile number are required.
A Digilocker account is compulsory.

Documents Required at the Time of Admission
All candidates admitted to the EMS Programme (designated as Resident Staff Nurse – RSN) must submit the following documents at the time of admission.
Joining Report (signed by the candidate)
EMS Programme Declaration Form (student agreement to programme rules)
Pre-Employment Medical Check-up Report (as per hospital requirement)
Short Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Identity Proof: Copy of Aadhaar Card
Passport Size Photographs (as required for institutional records)
Professional Qualification Certificates Copies
Copies of Academic Mark Sheets
B.Sc Nursing / GNM Nursing Degree Certificate
Course Completion Certificate
Valid KNMC Registration Number / Certificate
Any additional documents required by the training hospital or programme office
Authority
All academic and disciplinary matters related to the EMT programme are subject to the authority of DIMS Academy and the Programme Director.
University-Issued Student ID Card
This ID card is officially issued by MSU, confirming the candidate’s enrollment in a postgraduate diploma programme
