• Dressing selection.

• Infection prevention.

• Documentation.

Wound Care Objectives:

• Promote wound healing.

• Prevent infection.

• Control bleeding.

• Clean well before you close.

Red Flags;

• Uncontrolled bleeding.

• Deep wounds expose tendon, bone, or joint.

• Animal or human bites.

• Gross contamination or retained foreign body.

• Neurovascular compromise.

• Signs of infection (spreading redness, pus, fever).

• Suspected compartment syndrome.
