Comparative Overview of Emergency Care Training Pathways:
Emergency healthcare pathways differ based on entry level and clinical focus. The Emergency Medical Technician programme is designed for candidates after +2, focusing on basic life support and ambulance-based care.
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programme advances into prehospital emergency systems and field response, including disaster and ambulance care.
In contrast, Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) focuses on in-hospital emergency and ICU care, with advanced skills in resuscitation, airway management, and critical monitoring, offering stronger clinical exposure and career growth.

The differentiating point of a world-class hospital is its ability to manage acute medical situations, whether it be at the social level in the form of disasters, pandemics etc or at the personal level in the form of pre-hospital emergencies, intrahospital life-threatening conditions like cardiac arrest etc. Emergency Medicine is the department that spearheads these efforts and as such forms the face of the hospital. The performance of the emergency team and thereby the medical outcome depends wholly on the team dynamics of the concerned staff which in turn depends on their functional knowledge as much as their soft skills. EMS course equips its students to manage all emergencies both at the macroscopic as well as microscopic level.
The EMS course is vocational training rather than a theory-focused program. The curriculum focuses on making the candidate fit for facing and caring for critically ill patients through bedside teaching, simulation training, lectures etc. The course design emphasises certain areas like managing life-threatening conditions, interpreting investigation results, high stake-communication, and professional behaviour, making the candidate efficient in clinical practice.
Admission will take place twice a year (June and December).
Submission of application.
Written test followed by an interview: the interview assesses whether the applicant's attitude and aptitude are suitable for the course.
Joining date: The joining date will be in the second week of June and December every year
